New venue, new artists on 2024 Anacortes Studio Tour Back for its seventh year, the 98221 Artist’s Studio Tour will offer access to the work of eight new participating artists and a new venue to showcase the work of young artists in Anacortes. During the two-day event, September 7-8, 40 artists will be demonstrating and exhibiting their art at 27 locations scattered across Fidalgo Island. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Free maps of the studio tour will be available in August. “We’re especially excited to welcome our tour visitors to the Art Department’s classroom in beautifully renovated Anacortes High School,” said Lisa Rhoades, chair of the event. “Anacortes is a town that loves art and loves its local artists — including the students who receive great training at our high school. “ Our thanks to the school administration and to high school art teacher Carl Dellutri for inviting us to see, first hand, what our students are learning and creating,” Rhoades said. The students will be working on hand-built ceramics, acrylic painting and charcoal drawings during the studio tour in the new classroom that was greatly upgraded during recent renovations. New artists in the 2024 studio tour and their mediums are: Arup Biswas – photography; Andrea Cole – fiber art, art quilts; Rosemary Gray – acrylic, watercolor paintings; Annie Haynes – watercolor and acrylic paintings, landscapes and abstracts; Helen Merry – mixed media; Claudia Myer-Newman – mono prints, collage, encaustic and acrylic paintings, art lamps; Darlene Mindrum – acrylic painting, mixed media; Isabelle Posillico – jewelry design from sketch to finished pieces – using gold, silver and gemstones. The popular fall event allows visitors to choose from studios in every part of Fidalgo Island – from downtown to the foot of Mount Erie and from the Skyline neighborhood to Old Town and to the Cannery Building on Fidalgo Bay’s waterfront where the Samish Nation will welcome visitors
