Join Katie King, LMHC, a Licensed School Counselor and Mental Health Therapist, for a supportive and interactive three-hour workshop designed specifically for parents of teens and adolescents with Level 1 Autism. Through education, practical strategies, experiential exercises, and discussion, parents will gain a deeper understanding of how autism can affect communication, emotional regulation, sensory experiences, executive functioning, flexibility, social relationships, and everyday family life. Together, we'll explore ways to better understand your teen's individual needs, reduce unnecessary conflict, communicate more effectively, support emotional regulation, build life skills, and foster greater confidence and independence—while respecting and building upon your teen's strengths. Parents will leave with a deeper understanding of their teen, practical strategies for navigating everyday challenges, and a clearer roadmap for supporting resilience, self-advocacy, and increasing independence. Workshop Includes - Understanding Level 1 Autism during adolescence - Recognizing differences between sensory, social, communication, and executive functioning needs - Balancing support, accommodations, expectations, and independence - Practical, evidence-informed parenting strategies to: - Increase emotional regulation and manage overwhelm - Support building friendships, improving social experiences, and increasing self-advocacy - Improve communication and reduce family conflict - Interactive discussion and experiential learning - Comprehensive resource guide with worksheets and tools
