DESCRIPTION:Explore the art of sgraffito surface design in this fun and beginner-friendly class designed for all skill levels   especially anyone who doesn't feel confident drawing freehand! Learn how to transfer images from coloring books\, magazines\, printed references\, and other inspiring sources onto clay to create your own detailed designs. Students will practice applying their designs over underglaze on leather-hard pottery\, then use carving and sgraffito tools to reveal patterns\, textures\, and line work through the surface. This technique is a great way to create bold contrast and expressive decoration while building confidence with carving tools and surface design. Leather-hard practice plates will be provided as well as an assortment of reference images. Please feel free to bring your own images to use (ex: coloring book/page\, printed images\, drawings\, magazines\, etc.) This workshop is suitable for mature children ages ten and up who can focus on projects for two or more hours.
